Been Served Court Papers – What do I do now?

Don’t ignore the court papers

If you have been served court papers, the worst thing you can do is to ignore them.

Recently, our client was the subject of a claim for injuries to a pedestrian.

The pedestrian claimed to have tripped on a pipe in front of our client’s house.

Sadly, our client ignored the claim form and did not respond to the court.

As a result, the claimant won the claim and our client was ordered to pay over £13,000 in damages and legal costs.

By the time our solicitors were made aware of the claim, it was too late to help our client.

In fact, there were all sorts of things wrong with the claim. Had we known about it in time, our client would not have had to pay anything.
